Lord Rotherrnere. cross-examined, said the “Daily Mail" had not repaid him any of the money he had paid to the Princess Stephanie. In January, 1938. he was gradually severing his connection with the papers he controlled. so there was no more employment for the Princess. • Mr Beyfus asked whether, in a letter, he had suggested to Herr Hitler a course of action which would have had most violent repercussions in mrepe. Lord Rotherrnere said he -vas trying to prevent war between the wo peoples. He had admitted that in January. 1938, the Princess was constantly visiting Herr Hitler and his entourage on his behalf. The visits would encourage rumours that she was a Nazi agent. The hearing of evidence has concluded.
