WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KAITUNA-FERNRIDGE MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Kaituna-Fernridge Women’s Institute when Mrs J. Welch presided. During the afternoon Mrs Millar Hope gave a very interesting talk and demonstration on “Music of the British Isles." Those taking part in the programme were: "Morris * Dance Duet. Mesdames Bennet and Hope: "Air With Descant." Mesdames Snowsill and Speight: "English Air." Mrs Taylor; “Air- with Variations." Handel. Mrs Hope: Trio Scottish Folk Songs: Shakespeare’s "Loverand A Lass." vocal duet: “Shepherds’ Dance and Viking Song." Mesdames Traynor. Heyder. Bennett Snowsill and Speight. The winners of the monthly competitions were as follows: Orange cake Mrs Chapman 1. Mrs Stempa 2. Decorated Saucer of Flowers, Mrs Scharnwebber 1. Mrs Keir 2. Best flower. Mrs Shaw 1. Mrs Scharnwebber 2. A very amusing competition. the "Names of Cakes." was won by Mrs Millar Hope. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Pike and Taylforth.
