PROGRESS OF THE EMPIRE SCHEME SELECTION OF AERODROME SITES. AT LEAST TWENTY-FIVE NEEDED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright OTTAWA. November 13. It is announced that practical work in connection with the Empire air training scheme is proceeding. The transport department is selecting and surveying aerodrome sites and hangars, and workshops will be erected duringthe winter. It is officially stated that the TransCanadian Airlines landing fields will be the nucleus of the scheme, pending the completion of new fields. The number which will be needed is not estimated officially, but it is believed to be at least 25. Primarily the responsibility for the establishment of training fields rests with Canada. Two aircraft and eight pilots have been lent to the Ontario provincial airservice for the purpose of assisting the reconnaissance survey parties.
