NAVY LEAGUE

MASTERTON AUXILIARY. TWO SCHOOLS QUALIFY FOR FLAGS. A well attended meeting of the Masterton Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held in the A. and P. Association Hall, yesterday afternoon. Mrs Alfred Caselberg presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames S. R. Gawith, A. W. Don Misses B. Vallance and Gray. It was reported that Mr Darroch had visited Masterton on September 18. 19, 20, and addressed the pupils of the following schools: Solway College. St Matthew's Collegiate School, Wairarapa College. Hadlow Preparatory School, St Bride's Convent, St Patrick’s School, and the Masterton Central, Lansdowne, Masterton West and Te Ore Ore Schools, the last four after schools hours. Up to’date 414 school members have enrolled in the Navy League and two schools. Solway College with 108 members, and the Newman School with 100 per cent, have qualified for their Navy League Flags. The presentations to both schools will take place on December 9. The question of special war work to be done by the Navy League was fully discussed and it was decided to postpone any appeal to members until more information had been obtained as to wool to be made available for war relief work. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr and Mrs W. G. Lamb in the loss of their son, Squadron-Leader L. Lamb.
