ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMING CONCERT. At a meeting of the council of the Saint Andrew Society, held on Friday evening, tinal arrangements were made for the Saint Andrew’s Night concert to be held in the Opera House at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30. 1939. The Society’s musical director. Mr William C. Mann, reported on the results of his efforts to arrange a programme. and promised a concert fully up to the high standard of last yea)’. Among those who had promised to perform were two of New Zealand's leading’ singers. Mrs Wilfred Andrews and Mr Ken Macaulay. There would be other vocal items, as well as piping and dancing. Chieftainess Miller would produce a very humorous short one-act Scots play —a comedy-thriller called "Midnicht." The cast was an excellent one. and rehearsals were progressing most satisfactorily. It was decided to make the charges for admission the same as last year. 2s and Is. with no extra charge for reservations. School parties are to be permitted to reserve blocks of seats at Is per seat. Mr H. E. Pither has very kindly consented to take charge of the reservations, which will open at his shop on Friday, November 24.
