Mrs M. Syron, of Coradine Street, Masterton, is on a visit to Wellington. The Rev David McNeur, of the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church, left Masterton today for Christchurch, where he will attend the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church. The Rt Rev W. H. Baddeley. Bishop of Melanesia, will arrive in the Dominion early in the New Year to attend the General Synod, after which he will return to the islands. Messrs P. Johnston, of Masterton, and Gibb Johnston, of Carterton, left today for Christchurch in connection with the death of their mother, Mrs D. G. Johnston. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital this morning of Mr James Reweti Andrews, at the age of 21 years. The late Mr Andrews, who had been ill for some years, was a wellknown native. The funeral will take place at Gladstone tomorrow. Dr J. Frederick Staton, examiner Cor the Royal Academy of Music. London. who has been engaged in Auckland since June, arrived at Wellington by the Limited express on Saturday. He is to conduct a further series of examinations in the South Island. Squadron-Leader Barry Nicholl. who left Masterton some ten years ago to join the Royal Air Force, passed through yesterday on his way to Auckland. He is to undertake training duty in New Zealand. Mrs Nicholl and their child are at present in Auckland. Squadron-Leader Nicholl was formerly a member of the staff of the "Wairarapa Age "
