PLUNKET SOCIETY

MEETING OF MASTERTON COMMITTEE. TRUBY KING MEMORIAL QUOTA FILLED. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday. There were present Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), A. Ericson, J. M. Coradinc, W. A. Michael, D. Donald, T. C. Richardson. H. H. Daniell. P. Nathan. E. G. Norman, N. Irwin. E. G. Eton, A. H. Falloon, C. A. Carmine, and S. L. P. Free. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. Beetham. T. Jordan, H. Morrison, R. Miller, Sortain Smith. T. F. Watson, J. James, J. D. O'Connor and T. W. Wardell. A letter was received from the Nursing Adviser notifying the branch that Miss Campbell had been appointed relieving nurse while the nurses were on holiday. - An interesting quarterly report from Karitane Hospital was read. Accounts totalling £96 3s were passed, £43 of this amount being the branch’s quota to headquarters’ expenses, including the cost of the Society’s exhibit at the Centennial Exhibition. During their social evening, mothers had contributed £5 14s 8d to a. special collection, and it was resolved that after paying expenses. £3 10s 6d should be donated to the Truby King Memorial Fund. This sum would complete the branch's quota of £BO. Mrs R. Page, the Kuripuni Ladies’ Guild, and the W.F.C.A. were thanked for valuable help in connection with the social. Mesdames C. A. Cameron, Myer Caselberg, and Hoar were thanked for providing infants’ garments. The nurses’ report stated: Masterton—visits to office, adults 405, babies 384; pre-school children, 40; by telephone, 136; total 965; visits to homes, new cases 47, old 196; total 243; preschool children seen in homes, 31; new cases for the month, town 21, country 5. Out-stations: Tinui sub-branch, Taueru, Blairlogie, Whareama, Langdale, Tinui, Riversdale, 2 visits each; Homewood, 1 visit; visits to new cases, 7; old cases, 20; Mauriceville subbranch: Kopuaranga, Mauriceville East, Hastwells, Mt Bruce, Ihuraua Valley, 1 visit each; visits to new cases, 1; old, 13; pre-natal cases, new 5; total, 24.
