TRIBUTE TO BRITAIN
MR FRASER ENTERTAINED AT SAVOY. ASSURANCE OF UNFALTERING SUPPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Dav. 11.20 a.m.) LONDON. November 7. The New Zealand Society tendered a reception to Mr P. Fraser at the Savoy Hotel, where Mr W. J. Jordan (High Commissioner) and Mrs Jordan received guests including Mr and Mrs C. R. Attlee, Mr and Mrs Anthony Eden, the Dominion High Commissioners, Mr R. G. Casey (Australia). Colonel Reitz (South Africa) and the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
Mr Fraser, in a brief speech, said he had been struck by British calmness, cheerfulness, determination and lack of vain boasting. New Zealand had not hesitated to spring to the Motherland’s side when it saw that the principles of democracy were in jeopardy and that things dear to their hearts were in danger of crumbling to the dust.
