FRUIT INDUSTRY
ORIGINAL OFFER INCREASED. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Negotiations that had taken place between hirnself and the fruit industry during the past week were outlined by the Minister of Marketing, the Hon W. Nash, in a broadcast address from his office in Parliament Buildings last night. Mr Nash revealed that the Government had informed the Fruit Export Control Board that it was prepared to increase its original offer to buy 1.000,000 cases at 6s 9d a case f.o.b. by threepence a case, subject to Cabinet approval, and to provide in addition £lO,OOO for the advertising of fi<bit. However, the representative of the industry could not accept this proposal and would prefer marketing control plus a minimum guarantee of 5s a case at assembly point.
