RIFLE CLUB OPENING SHOOT OF SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the opening shoot of the season (seven shots at 300yds, 500yds. and 600yds), the scores were: — 300 500 600 ttl.
CROQUET BUTTONS TWO WINS FOR FEATHERSTON. Matches for the A. and B. Association buttons were played on the Featherston greens yesterday and resulted in wins for the Featherston Club. Scores:—A grade, Mrs Saunders and Miss Lyford (Featherston)., 26, beat Miss Nix and Miss Watson (Haunui), 15; B grade, Mrs Benton and Miss O’Neale (Featherston), 26; Miss Viles .and Mrs Donald (Haunui), 8. Unsuccessful Bowlers. A rink consisting of A. B.‘ Fuge. L. James. G. O’Neale and H. Rolls (s), visited Otaki to take part in a tournament there, but did not meet with much success. Pirates Cricket Club. The Pirates Cricket Club last season played many enjoyable games and altogether had a season well worth while. The annual meeting is to be held in the Fire Brigade station on Thursday at 7.30 p.m.; when it is expected that there will be a good attendance. It is anticipated that an even most successful season will be experienced in 1939-40.
