BETTER RELATIONS SOUGHT WITH AMERICA. PAYMENT OF INDEMNITIES SUGGESTED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright NEW YORK. November 6. The Tokio correspondent of the American United Press says that the former Foreign Ministers. Messrs Yoshizawa and Arita, suggest that Japan pay indemnities for the damage done to American interests in China as a means of improving the relations between Japan and America.
Newspaper editorials stress the desire of the American Ambassador. Mr Grew, and the Foreign Minister. Admiral Nomura, to improve the relations and predict that their next meeting will develop Japan's reactions to the American proposals. Subsequent meetings will be devoted to concrete measures.
The "Nichi Nichi Shimbun” reports that Mi' Kato, the envoy for Chinese affairs, is en route io Shanghai to negotiate with the American consular authorities "along constructive lines."
