SEVERAL ENCOUNTERS
LAND & AIR FIGHTING. (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) PARIS. November 6. The official radio states that Germans scouting in the Vosges sector captured a French outpost. Later they were beaten off with hand grenades. French mortars also prevented a German attempt to capture a small island in the Rhine in boats. German planes flew over the Allied lines once, but the French penetrated German territory more deeply.
