VISITING EVANGELIST

BIBLE PROPHECY AND WORLD AFFAIRS. A considerable number of the citizens of Masterton gathered in the Arcade Hall last evening to hear Evangelist L G. Maxwell. Mr Maxwell is a keen student, of Biblical prophecy and world affairs, and his subject "The Marcli of Nations to the Blood-bath of Europe" proved of more than ordinary interest. "In spite of all the lessons of history as to the futility anc) hellishness of war. it is still used to settle our international disputes." said Mr Maxwell. "Today we again fine’ mankind locked in deadly combat And the questions that naturally arise in our minds are: Will Europe survive? Will there be a United States of Europe? On the authority of the Word of God we answer 'No.' One short verse tells us that the kingdoms o! Europe are to remain separate until the setting up of Christ's everlasting kingdom." After referring to biblical history and former world empires the speaker said. “After 476 A.D. barbarichordes invaded Rome, and she became divided into exactly 10 kingdoms. These divisions are still with us today in the nations of Europe. England France, Italy, Germany, etc. All efforts to unite these divisions into one empire have failed. And neither can Hitler unite them today. They are to continue until the setting up of Christ’s everlasting kingdom. It is our privilege. by daily conformity to the Divini will, to have our citizenship in that kingdom. The nations may march to the blood-bath of Europe, but let us march to the kingdom of our God."
