TWO POCKET BATTLESHIPS OPERATING IN ATLANTIC. STATEMENT BY FIRST LORD. GERMAN BAN ON NEWS. News from Germany is likely to be scantier than ever. Further restrictions have been placed on the sending of news to neutral countries. The reason advanced in Germany is that enemy spies have been taking advantage of the unrestricted conditions that have existed till now. During the las’, few days, neutral journalists have been allowed only a few telephones for the sending of news. FLIGHTS OVER GERMANY. During the past 24 hours successful flights over North-Western Germany have been made by the R.A.F. Important photographs were taken and all our machines returned safely. NAZI TERRORISM. Further examples of Nazi atrocity, this time in war, were given in London by a Pole who escaped from Warsaw only a week ago. He said that one-fifth of Warsaw’s 25,000 buildings had been damaged or destroyed. The Germans had also destroyed all factories and works, and employees were nearly starving. What the invaders construed as sabotage was punishable by death said the Pole. Large numbers of young men, including Jews, had been driven away in lorries to build fortifications on the new German-Russian frontier. Anglo-Soviet preliminary trade discussions are being continued this week. A conference concerning the wartime policy of East African territory opened in Nairobi yesterday. Russia has agreed to buy all German merchantmen at present hiding in Russian ports, and they will soon be at sea again under the hammer and sickle flag. The Premier of Turkey declared today that Turkey’s pact with Britain and France was not directed against any other State. It would come into effect only if any other State tried to trample on Turkey’s aspirations.
