FORCE FOR PEACE
TURKEY’S PACT WITH ALLIES DECLARATION BY PRESIDENT. DESIRE TO CREATE REGION' OF SECURITY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) ANKARA, November 1. “Turkey's pact with Britain and France is not directed against any other state' and will only operate if some State seeks to trample on our lawful aspirations,” declared President Ismet Inonu, opening the sixteenth session of
Parliament. “Its purpose is to assure Turkey’s security and to serve peace and international security, at least in the zone in which our influence can be exercised. We are endeavouring to create a region of security and to prevent an extension of the horrors of war. Our bonds with our Allies are our common ideals with them and do not disturb normal and friendly relations with other States. We sincerely desire to keep out from the zone of war, provided our security is not compromised and our undertakings are not violated.”
