S.M. COURT
SITTING AT GREYTOWN BREACHES OF MOTOR REGULATIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the Greytown S.M. Court this morning before Mr H. P. La wry, S.M., William Workman, charged with having driven a motor car without being the holder of a driver's licence was fined £1 and costs 10. Herbert L. Woodham was charged with having driven a motor cycle in a dangerous manner: not being the hold ■ er of a driver’s licence, and with failure to carry a warrant of fitness. As defendant used the motor cycle for his business, the Magistrate said he would not cancel defendant's licence. He was only to use the car for business purposes. On the first charge defendant was fined £3 and 10s costs, on the second £1 and 10s costs and on the third charge 5s and 10s costs. He was allowed 14 days in which to pay the fines. Mr J. F. Thompson appeared for defendant. Sidney Everard Wood was similarly charged. The same conditions were imposed upon him as in the case of Woodham. He was fined £2 and 10s costs, £1 10s and 10s costs and 5s and 10s costs, respectively, and was allowed a month in which to pay the fines. The Transport Department proceeded against Kenneth Garside for having driven a heavy motor lorry at a speed exceeding 25 miles an hour through the Greytown Borough. He was fined £2 and costs 10s.
The radio inspector charged Robert Rewi with having operated a radio without posessing a licence. He was fined £2 and 10s costs.
Judgment by . default was given for plaintiffs in the following civil cases:— W.F.C.A. v Cyril Singer, claim £6 4s Id, costs 15s; Ellena P .Eccles v Phil Barney, claim £2 4s 6d, costs Ils.
