WEDDING
GRIGGS—ROBERTS.
(“Times-Age” Special.)
A very pretty wedding took place in the Carterton Methodist Church on Labour Day when Dorothy, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. W. Roberts, Carterton. was married to Arthur Douglas Griggs, only son of Mr H. W. H. Griggs, formerly of Carrington, and now of Napier, and the late Mrs Griggs.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly attired in a gown of cream satin slightly trained, with full bodice and pleated collar. The sleeves were gathered at the shoulder and finished with a row of tiny buttons from the elbow to the cuffs, coming to points over the hands. The beautiful tulle veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and formed a second train. She carried a lovely shower bouquet of cream lilac and irises and maiden hair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Joyce Roberts, as bridesmaid, who was attired in an apple green lace frock over satin, cut on slimming lines, with gathered bodice finished with a row of tiny buttons from the waist to the heartshaped neck. She wore a pleated tulle halo with flowers on her head and carried a bouquet of gold flowers and fern. ' The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Claude Churchill, of Wellington. During the signing of the register Miss R. Surtees sang the solo “Bless this House.” The officiating minister was' the Rev H. White, of Carterton, and the organist was Mrs F. A. Nightingale. Mr Reg Wilson was usher at the church, which had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by Ken Nightingale. A reception was held at the Premier Tearooms where a beautifully decorated wedding cake was cut 'by the bride. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a dark brown ensemble with gold trimmings and fox fur. She carried a posy of gold flowers. For travelling, the bride chose a costume of powder blue with navy accessories. Mr and Mrs Griggs later left by car for the north. The future home of Mr and Mrs A. D. Griggs will be in Masterton.
