MILK IN SCHOOLS
EXTENSION TO WAIRARAPA. DETAILS OF THE SCHEME. Further particulars have been received by Mr J. Robertson, M.P., from Dr M. H. Watt, Director-General of Health, regarding the supply of milk to schools in the Wairarapa. The schools to be supplied, with the roll number in every case, are as follow. — Konini 28, Hamua 33, Newman 25, Eketahuna 200, Kaiparoro 26, Opaki 20, Te Ore Ore 70, Masterton Central 618, Masterton West 372. Whatman 101, Solway 130, Clareville 40, Carterton 441, Greytown 339, Featherston 380, St Bride’s Convent 76, St Patrick’s School 176, St Mary’s Convent (Carterton) 57; total children 3436. In forwarding this information Dr Watt states that it is satisfactory that it has at last been possible to arrange for this extension in the supply of milk to schools in the Wairarapa. The delay, he states, had been due to the impossibility of obtaining pasteurised milk from local suppliers. Local school committees are asked to erect suitable boxes or containers for the crates of milk as near to the roadway as convenient. The exact date on which the supplies will become available has not yet been advised.
