ALP’S. WARNING
TO MEN WHO ENLIST. (By Telegraph—Association.) HASTINGS, October 26. A warning to men who had enlisted or intended doing so not to give up their jobs till they were called up to go into camp was issued today by the M.P. for Hawke's Bay. Mr Cullen. "I have been approached several times lately by young men looking for work who have come long distances into town and are now without money or jobs and almost destitute,” said Mr Cullen. “Though they are to be congratulated on their zeal and patriotism, and everyone will appreciate their good intentions, I should like to warn other young mon that on no account must they throw up their jobs till they have been given final instructions by the military authorities to enter camp.” Mr Cullen mentioned that some of the young men who were now stranded had failed to pass the medical examination and consequently there was no prospect at all of their going into camp with the present forces. “The great pity of it is that several of them had really good jobs,” he added.
