FRENCH REPORT QUIET NIGHT. SOME PATROL AND ARTILLERY ACTIVITY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) RUGBY, October 25. A French official communique issued this morning states: “On the whole the . night has been quiet. There was patrol and artillery activity to the west of the Saar.” OVERTURE & REPLY GERMAN WESTERN FRONT PROPAGANDA. MACHINE-GUNS TERMINATE BROADCAST. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) PARIS, October 25; A German loud-speaker lorry broadcasting propaganda on the Western Front approached a French outpost, repeating: “Germany does not want to fight France.” A burst of machine-gun fire smashed the apparatus. The crew hurriedly retired. GERMAN REPORT (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 25. A German communique states: “Enemy units, approximately a company, have been attacked west of Voelklingsen and driven back into French territory.
