GAS PROPAGANDA

NAZIS MAKING USE OF SWISS PROFESSOR. CIRCULATION OF FALSE STATEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON. October 24. The Basle correspondent of “The Times” says Professor Staehelin, of Basle University, fears that the Germans are using him for propaganda in support of the future use of poison gas. He was attending a Berlin patient when the Berlin University asked him to investigate a case of gas poisoning at Jaslo. He said: “I travelled by plane and diagnosed nine soldiers as suffering from yellow cross gas poisoning, but there was no evidence regarding the circumstances in which the poisoning happened.” Tracts mailed to neutrals pretend that “a Basle professor of European fame witnessed at Jaslo the results of Polish gas warfare.” This is untrue.
