GOEBBELS ON SINKING OF ATHENIA. ABUSE OF MR CHURCHILL. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) BERLIN, October 22. Dr Goebbels (Minister of Propaganda) broadcasting, addressed his remarks to Mr Winston Churchill and reasserted that the First Lord was responsible for the sinking of the Athenia. Dr Goebbels declared that it had been proved on the unimpeachable evidence of an American witness named Anderson that three British destroyers were responsible for the sinking. Dr Goebbels devoted his entire speech of thirty-three minutes to abusing Mr Churchill, giving an extraordinary account purporting to be Mr Churchill’s plan to blow the Athenia.
