PRAYER FOR THE KING

IN ROOSEVELT FAMILY CHURCH. CANADIAN PRAYER BOOK USED. (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) HYDE PARK, October 22. President Roosevelt, his wife and mother attended a special service at the family church, St James Episcopal, at which a Bible was presented by their Majesties commemorating their attendance on June 11, and heard a prayer that God strengthen the King “that he may overcome all his enemies.”

The President bowed his head in prayer as the unusual supplication was intoned. The Rev Frank Wilson for the first time in history used the Canadian Prayer Book of the Church of England. He commented that: ‘.The historical significance of the Royal visit may become more evident to the American church as the years go by.”
