THE WAIRARAPA SHOW.

preliminary reports suggest that war conditions have in no way deprived the Wairarajia I’. and A. Show, set down for Wednesday and Thursday next of the support from exhibitors and others to which it. is so well entitled. It is stalml, lor instance, that there are a number ol new exhibitors in the various breed sections and that several of these sections, though they have always been well tilled, will be stronger than lor many years. Other departments of the Show also are. receiving a full measure of support from competitors and entries generally suggest, that the enterprise of the controlling association is valued and appreciated as it ought to be. In ’view ol the interesting range of exhibits and supplementary attractions, it need not. be doubted that the Show will be well and adequately supported'also by the general public.

In these days of emergency, when a full-powered effort is called for, not least in the primary industries for which this district and this country are' noted, lhe importance and practical interest and value of a fixture like that organised annually by the P. and A. Association are emphasised. Like others of its kind, the Wairarapa Show serves a very valuable purpose in helping to promote and stimulate efficiency in the industries on which this country depends as its economic mainstay. In the centennial year of lhe Dominion and in a lime, too. of national and international emergency, lhe Show should be more than ever a memorable occasion of its kind. In its serious purpose and also in its many-sided popular interest and appeal as one of the great community gatherings of the year, the Show was never better worth maintaining and supporting than in days like those through which we are now passing.
