FEATHERSTON

BIRTHDAY MEETING WOMEN’S DIVISION GATHERING AT PAHAUTEA. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Pahautea branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union held its eighth birthday yesterday afternoon, when representatives from Greytown and Featherston branches and a number of visitors were present. Mrs Ross, president, welcomed the guests. Vocal items were given by Mesdames Farquhar and Feast. Competitions were won by Mesdames Corlet, Connell and Siemonek. Mrs Ross presented shoulder sprays to Mesdames Farquhar, Feast, Sadler, Beu and Miss Card. A bring and buy stall was well patronised. The two-tier cake, made by Mrs Cade and iced by Mrs C. Carter, was much admired. The top tier was won by Mrs Enoko. In the absence of Mrs Wakeley. Miss Card lit the candles and expressed her wish for the success of the branch. Mrs Beu. president of the Greytown branch, also gave greetings from her branch. The candles were extinguished by Mrs Beu. Afternoon tea given by members was much enjoyed by all. LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon, Mrs Archie j Clark presiding. An interesting talk was given by the Rev J. T. Holland on Christian Education and the health of the body, mind and spirit. Next month's meeting is to be held on the 4th Wednesday. The tea hostesses were Mesdames J. Willett, Bladen, Hayes and Chas Buck. GOLF LABOUR DAY TOURNEY. The greens and fairways are in good order for the annual Labour weekend tournament, to be held at the Feathers-; ton links, commencing at 1 p.m. tomorrow, with a medal round. On Sunday morning a stableford competition will be played and in the afternoon a four-ball bogey. On Monday morning another stableford competition will be decided and in the afternoon a fourball stableford bogey. Post entries will be received each day. Personal. Mrs G. E. Sharp (president) and Mrs J; E. Willett (secretary) of the Featherston sub -branch of the Red Cross attended the Dominion Council Red Cross meeting held in Wellington on Wednesday.
