WAIRARAPA COLLEGE
PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION MEETING. APPRECIATION OF ASSISTANCE. At the monthly committee meeting of the Wairarapa College Parents’ Association, it was decided that the annual carnival should be proceeded with, and the date was fixed for Saturday, March 2. It was decided to hold another card evening on Monday, October 30. This will be the last for the season. Mr Hancox, principal of the College, thanked the association for procuring a motor bus for school purposes, and stated that it would be a tremendous assistance in conveying agriculture students to and from Penrose and other farms for demonstration purposes, for transporting school sports teams to the various outlying playingfields and also for other school general purposes. The association has also provided a portion of the material for dressing the tennis courts which are for the use of Hostel boarders. Other work which the association has in view as soon as funds become available and for which Government grants cannot be obtained, is the laying of water on to the playing areas. This is badly required and already a deep well has been sunk discharging 5000 gallons of water per hour. Cloak rooms for the Assembly Hall are badly needed. The foundations have been down for some time, but the rest of the work is held up owing to lack of funds, but will be proceeding with as soon as these become available.
