OUTSTANDING PICTURES

" POLL RESULTS. The five outstanding pictures for the first half of this year, according to Hollywood critics in the poll conducted by the “Hollywood Reporter,” a trade paper, are "Dawn Patrol,” “Gunga Din,” “Stagecoach,” “Dark Victory” and “Jaurez.” This means that these five will be seriously considered by the Academy Award voters next year. These films, however, will receive

strong competition from other supercolossals released from June 1 to December 31, which will include “Gune With the Wind." “Northwest Passage.’ -The Womeir," "Hollywood Cavalcade,' "Beau Geste,” and a few others. It is interesting to note that among (he first five selected, three of them were "action" movies: "Dawn Patrol.' "Gunga Din" and "Stagecoach." There has been a definite trend Inwards movies that really move.
