n e A PRACTICAL WAY. f A practical way of mending socks: s ’ Instead of darning in the customary S way, use a knitting needle and pick up ■r a line of stitches below the hole; leave d a clearance of one inch. Knit a square ~ on these stitches to cover the hole. Cast 11 off and hem the square into position on right side, but in order that the stitches shall not run. do not cut them.
