CANADA’S NAVAL ACTIVITY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. OTTAWA, October 18. A Defence Department spokesman, whose identity was concealed, announced in a broadcast today that anti-sub-marine nets and defences against motor torpedo-boats had been laid or were being laid in the harbours on both the Canadian coasts, and also that naval units and planes were constantly patrolling the coasts. In a broadcast from Ottawa, the Minister of Defence, Mr Norman Rogers, said that Canada would be sustained through her present trials by her faith in the final outcome of the war. He described how the Canadian Navy had co-operated with the British Navy in carrying out convoy work and also the progress of the activities of the Canadian Air Force.
