CHINESE SUCCESS
ATTACK ON HANGCHOW. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. CHUNGKING. October 17. It is ofTicially reported that the Chinese Army attacked Hangchow, killing numerous Japanese soldiers and destroying the power plant, an ammunition dump and the headquarters of the puppet regime. They also destroyed railway tracks and dynamited bridges, severing communication with Shanghai and establishing Chinese control in the surrounding countryside.
