Life-Savers Pledge Support.
"To the New Zealand Government we pledge our fullest support, realising as we do that the light today is one of right against might and that everything possible must ,be done, and personal sacrifices made, Vo ensure the final success of the forces that are, and will be, fighting against tyrannical oppression of the smaller nations of the world,” says the annual report of the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association. "The Government has rightly expressed the desire that the operations of the various organisations should continue as in. normal periods and that arrangements being made for centennial celebrations should, where practicable, be continued.” Male Nurses. Difficulties involved in the training of male nurses were mentioned in replies from the Health Department to remits passed at the annual conference of the Hospital Boards’ Assockatipn concerning the shortage of nurses. Details of lhe department’s views were received by the Auckland Hospital Board. The conference suggested that the possibility should be considered of introducing male nurses into the hospitals for certain work in the wards. It was stated in reply that the Nurses’ and Midwives' Registration Board and the department had considered the matter. In view of the difficulties of finding a suitable hospital in which to train male nurses—as it was not considered desirable to train both males and females in the one school—the department strongly advised hospital boards desiring to employ male nurses to apply to the naval authorities for orderlies trained in their sick bay
