AMATEUR THEATRICALS
NO PRODUCTION THIS YEAR. MANY DIFFICULTIES ARISE. On account of several factors, the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society has decided not to present "Gay Romance” this year. A specjal meeting of members was held last night, the president, Mr H. P. Hugo being in the chair, when the matte was fully discussed. Mr Hugo explained the position, referring to the many difficulties that had arisen on account of exchange and war restrictions. In addition to that, several of the principals had been overtaken by illness, and others had gone away and in the time available, it would be impossible for new principals to fill the roles. Taking all the circumstances into consideration, it was advisable to postpone further activity until next year, when it would probably be possible to make a start in the early part of the year. The meeting decided unanimously to follow the course suggested by Mr Hugo.
