CARTERTON

ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. ("Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge was presided over by P.G. Bro. C. E. White last evening, there being a fair attendance of members. Sick pay to the amount of £l6 6s 8d and other accounts totalling £1 14s 8d were passed for payment. It was resolved to purchase £1 worth of health stamps. The lodge officers were examined in lodge ritual work. They made a very good showing. The final result of the contest will not be known until Loyal Masterton lodge officers are examined. After lodge, supper was handed round and an hour was spent in song anti story. LADIES’ GOLF WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS. The following are the competitions won by the ladies during the season just completed: —Senior championship, Miss Welch; junior championship, Mrs Murray; L.G.U. silver medal, Mrs Callender; L.G.U. bronze medal, Mrs Harrington; club medal competitions, first, Miss Smart; second (tie), Misses Knutson, P. Renall and M. Campbell; bogey competition, Mrs M. Campbell; stableford bogeys, Mrs Robinson, Mrs Goodin, Miss Freer, Miss J. Booth;; flag competition (tee), Miss Welch and Miss P. Renall; fourball, Mrs R. N. Campbell and Miss Smart; Mrs Orr’s trophy, Mrs Harrington; Mr C. K. Goodin’s trophy, Miss P. Renall; one club competition, Miss Smart; best net score qualifying rounds ,Mrs Geo. Brown’s trophy), Miss M. Campbell; eclectic (Mr V/. H. Booth's trophy), Miss Anderson; eclectic, junior (secretary’s trophy), Mrs Colson; Mrs Forbes’s Broach, Miss M. Campbell; Keltie Buttons, Mrs Moroney and Miss Smart; King’s Birthday medal round, Miss N. Renall; King’s Birthday foursome, Mrs Ross and Miss N. Renall; Mrs B. Booth's trophy (for gaining handicaps), Mrs Colson, Mrs Goodin, Mrs M. Campbell, Mrs R. N. Campbell, Miss P. Renall, Miss Freer and Misp Corlett. The season officially closed with a very pleasant social spent in the Masonic Hall, when there was a large attendance of members and friends. The music for dancing was supplied by Udy’s Band. PARKVALE SOCIAL CLUB ENJOYABLE WIND-UP DANCE. The Parkvale Hall was crowded last evening when members of the Parkvale Social Club concluded its season with a wind-up dance, which proved a fitting finale. Visitors were present from all parts of the district, who enjoyed themselves very much bn a beautifully prepared floor till the early hours of the morning, the music being supplied by Tom Udy’s dance band. Very much appreciated extras were played by Misses Jean Lorenzen, F. Steven and V. Ward. Mr C. Jensen was an efficient M.C. Two Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mr Rex Andrews and Mrs Andrews, and Mr B. Herrick and Miss Hunter, respectively. Streamer and other novelty dances added to the enjoyment of those present. During the evening much appreciated items were given by Mr Lux Renall, singing cowboy songs, accompanying himself on the guitar. Mr Baynes rendered a monologue very acceptably, and Master Wadham pleased with an item. The supper arrangements, which were in the hands oi the men, was very ably served, and their efforts were greatly appreciated. As the result of the dance, the funds of the social club will be considerably increased. The singing of the National Anthem brought a most enjoyable gathering and successful season to an end. Personal. The victim of the unfortunate tragedy in Lyttelton Harbour, when the trawler Dolphin' was sunk, Mr Frederick Jas. Brassel, was a brother of Mr H. P. Brassel, farmer, of Parkvale.
