LATE MR PICKERING
FUNERAL LARGELY ATTENDED.
There was a particularly large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr D. A. Pickering which took place in Masterton yesterday. The services at the residence and graveside were conducted by the Rev. David McNeur. Pipers Murdo McKenzie and Jock McKenzie played the lament “Flowers of the Forest” as the long cortege moved off, and also played at the graveside. The pallbearers were: Messrs I. D. Cameron (Wairarapa Caledonian Society), G. R. Booth (Masonic Lodge No. 19), H. A. R. Dunderdale (Druids’ Lodge), R. Gordon Lee (Masterton A. and P. Association), V. Pinkney (Pickering Bros.), and V. Wilton (Masterton Savage Club). Among the large number of floral tributes received were wreaths from the following: Wairarapa SubCentre Amateur Athletic Association, Wairarapa Hockey Association, Pupils, committee and staff of Lansdowne School, Mas,terton Caledonian Society. Masterton Savage Club, Carterton Savage Club, Master Builders’ Association, staff of Messrs C. E. Daniell Ltd., Messrs R. F. Baker and Co., John Graham and Co., J. Bouzaid, Booth McDonald and Co., Atlantic Union Oil Co., Jenkins and Mack (Wellington), Masterton A. and P. Association, Stonehenge Lodge, United Friendly Society Dispensary Board, Post and Telegraph staff, Jenkins Bros., Masterton Plumbers’ Union, Dunderdale and Gray, S. R. Gawith, Masterton Orchestral Society, R. F. Carty (Wellington), .and Murray Roberts and Co., Masterton. As a mark of esteem business premises in Master ton closed as the cortege passed through the town.
