The morning round did not produce any brilliant golf but Horton was the steadier of the two and at the completion of the 18 holes he had a lead of 4 up. Much better golf was played in the afternoon and Cameron made a bold bid to overtake the leeway, his outround being 35. However, Horton was not to be denied and he completed the first nine in 34 to increase his lead to 5 up. Horton continued playing sparkling golf to which Cameron was unable to respond and the end came at the 12th. Hearty congratulations are extended to Horton on again winning the club championship. He first won the Masterton Club championship 22 years ago and it is very pleasing to see his name again appearing on the honours board.
