THE CRICKET SEASON \ MANGAIVIAIRE CLUB. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Mangamaire Cricket Club the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr J. E. Hewitt; president. Mr A. P. Ralph; vice-presidents. Messrs T. H. Verry, E. L. Lloyd. H. Henderson, J. Bruce, C. F. Jensen, G. Woods, M. R. Lawson and G. Webb; club captain, Mr R. Signal; vice-cap-tain. Mr B. Kendall; secretary, Mr M. H. Ralph; treasurer, Mr B. Kendall: delegates to Bush Cricket Association Messrs R. Signal and W. Jensen. An energetic working bee has commenced preparing the playing area. During the past season heavy expen - diture was incurred for materials. The club has a credit balance of £2 9s Id. METHODIST CHURCH GOLDEN JUBILEE. The Eketahuna Methodist Church will celebrate its golden jubilee on Sunday, October 29, when the preacher at all the church services will be the Rev A. Mcßean. A good fellowship tea will be held on Monday, October 30. Personal. Mr G. Fergus, of the Pahiatua brane 1 ! of the W.F.C.A. Ltd, has joined the Eketahuna branch as manager of the ironmongery department. An enjoyable time was spent at Hukanui when a complimentary social was tendered to Mr Alan Lawrence, who was married on Saturday at Martinborough.. Mr Charles Mitchell contributed two songs, accompanied by Mr Ken Hicks, at the piano. After supper was served, Mr Twentyman, on behalf of Hukanui residents, presented Mr Lawrence, and his bride-to-be with at set of silver and cutlery. Mr Lawrence suitably responsed.
