TE ORE ORE MEETING. h J (“Times-Age” Special.) At the montnly meeting o£ the Te Ore Ore Women’s Institute Mrs Fouhy (president), presided over a good attendance of members and visitors. Three new members, Mesdames Bell, Linton and McKenzie were welcomed. Apologies for absence were received from several members. The motto for October’ “Patience in all Things” was given by and suitably commented upon by the president. The secretary was given instructions to write to Mr McLauchlan and convey to him a hearty vote of thanks for so kindly donating for competition, potatoes, which were, during the evening, distributed to all members present. Mrs Brunton agreed to attend the Wairarapa Federation meeting of institutes in Martinborough as voting delegate. Miss Robinson was appointed to attend as reporting delegate for Te Ore Ore. It was decided to have at the next meeting a Bring and Buy stall, which would be- in charge of Miss Jaques, Miss Admore and Mrs Karaitiana. The secretary was instructed to write to the secretary of the Meeting House Fund committee and convey to the Maoris of Te Ore Ore sincere sympathy from the institute for the great loss suffered in the destruction by fire of their historic meeting house. Mrs Whittaker, of Masterton, gave a useful and interesting demonstration on the making of a crochet cushion coVer. The majority of members present showed their appreciation by commencing to work a cushion. Supper was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Morris, Albert and Percy. At its conclusion a Roll Call responded to readily by all members — “My Greatest Thrill,” caused cpnsiderable merriment. Mrs McDonald took charge of an unusual competition. Mrs Linton proved the winner. Miss Admore and Miss Bliss were second, while Mrs Brunton was third.
Mrs Bell judged a competition, “something new out of something old,” the result being:—Miss Jaques, 1; Miss Admore, 2; Mrs McLauchlan, 3. All entries for this were donated to be stored away and be used in the future for necessitous cases. Mesdames McKenzie and Linton judged the best flower for the month, the result being:—Miss Bliss, 1; Mrs Morris, 2; Miss Jaques, 3. Mrs Percy proved the winner of the “wandering shilling.” Popular vote decided that the roll call for the November meeting be “My Favourite Singer” and the competition “a baby's feeder.”
