A. & P. ASSOCIATION
MEETING IN MASTERTON ! INCREASING PRODUCTION OF FOODSTUFFS. j SUPPORT ASSURED GOVERNMENT, j The monthly meeting of the general j committee of the Masterton A. & p. Association was held last night. Mr R. Gordon Lee presided over a good attendance. One new member was elected, and one resignation accepted. ‘■The Minister of Agriculture has declared that during the war New Zealand will be called upon to increase the production of foodstuffs for the maintenance both for the fighting forces and of the industrial front,” stated a letter from Mr L. J. Wild, president of the Royal Agricultural Society cf New Zealand. “In this connection it is obvious that members of cur association can help not only as individuals but through their organisation if and when the Government should require. It may also happen that grounds and ; buildings may be put to useful purposes in the national interest, without interfering with the ordinary purposes for. which they are required by the association. I have already written to the Minister for Agriculture offering the services of their society so far as they can be availed of; and I now take leave to suggest that Agricultural and Pastoral Associations, if they have not already done so, offer their resources to the Government to such an extent as they may feel able to do so.” On the recommendation of the chairman it was decided to write to the Government informing them of their wholehearted co-operation in every possible way. The Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Club was granted permission to use the Solway Showgrounds on Tuesday, December 5 for the judging of their lamb and calf competitions.
The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board advised that the services of the Board’s Supervising Mr J. Drysdale, would be made available to the association for the District Lamb competition which will take place on November 7.
