BLIND INSTITUTE BAND
CONCERT AT MASTERTON. I Tickets are being sold freely for the Blind Institute Band’s concert in the Municipal Hall on Tuesday night next, prices of admission being very low, viz., adults, 2s; children, Is. The Women’s National Welfare League has taken a keen interest in organising the concert and is being assisted by members of the Rotary and Optimist Clubs as well as the Masterton Municipal Band. Tickets for the concert can be obtained at the shop of Mr H. E. Pither, Queen Street,- and from members of the Women’s National Welfare League, and the Rotary Club. The concert provides brilliant entertainment of a varied character, many of the blind performers being outstanding in their respective musical spheres. Reporting a recent concert the “Bay of Plenty Times” stated: “In all their selections the band showed excellent timing and played with confidence. The visitors all appear to be true musicians. There is no doubt that with very little encouragement the audience would have joined in several of the melodies which is quite unusual for an audience who generally need coaxing, badgering, and finally bullying to make them sing a chorus. It is a pleasure to have had the band in Tauranga and sincere best wishes go with them for a successful tour.” It would be very much appreciated if those who would care to accommodate one of the members of the band for a night would communicate with Mrs H. E. Pither, Lansdowne.
