SPORT OF KINGS OVERSEAS
SHOULD RUN PROMINENTLY. At Awapuni yesterday Kahui (Brown) was given a working gallop, the last three furlongs occupying 42J. Kahui looks well, and should race prominently in coming engagements.
PERSONAL AND OTHERWISE. Commenting on Gold Salute’s chance in the A.J.C. Derby, “Chirone” in the ‘Australian’ selected him next to Beau Vite and Wilson, and referred to his breeding as follows:—“He is by Lord Warden (son of Hurry On) from Frenzied Finance, by Paper Money (son of Greenback) from Peronilla, by Achilles (son of Medalion) from Prelude, by Merrie England from Prologue, by Catesby. It cannot be said he is a fashionably bred as either Beau Vite or Wilson, but he has a very old-fashioned pedigree, and one that should not discount him as a stayer.”
