PLUNKET SOCIETY

MEETING OF MASTERTON COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Masterton Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket Rooms yesterday afternoon. Those present were: Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), D. Donald, T. Jordan, A. Ericson, P. Nathan, H. Morrison, A. F. Stewart, R. C. Drummond, R. F. R. Beetham, C. T. Richardson, J. V. Gordon, E. G. Eton, C. A. Carmine, R. Miller and W. A. Michael. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames E. G. Norman, S. L. P. Free, J D. O’Connor, J. M. James, N. M. Irwin and E. SortainSmith. The hon. treasurer presented accounts amounting to £47 7s. Reference was made to the loss the society had sustained in the death of Sir William Hunt, who was chairman of the Karitane Products Society and a most generous supporter of the society. Mrs C. T. Richardson was welcomed as a new member of the committee. Grateful thanks were expressed to the Borough Council for its generous grant of £5O to the funds of the Masterton branch. Circulars were received from Head Office, Dunedin, dealing with the branch’s contribution to the superannuation fund (the amount due by the Masterton branch being £7 Is 6d), nominations for the executive of the Dominion Council and the society’s policy of help during the war. Thanks for gifts .of infant clothing were expressed to Mesdames R. Keltie, Bach, T. W. Wardell, to Mrs Wiseman for the gift of a pram, to Mrs Nicol for push chair and to Mrs Peacock for a bassinette. The nurse’s report for September was as follows: —Visits to office, adults, 374; babies, 352; pre-school children, 69; telephone, 122; total, 917. Visits to homes, new cases, 46; old cases, 205; total, 251. Pre-school children, seen in homes, 18; new cases for month, 18; total number of babies on books, 437; pre-school children, 315; new cases charted, town and country, 19. Outstations: Tinui sub-branch, Taueru, Blairlogie, Whareama and Langdale, 2 visits each. Homewood and Tinui, 1 visit each; visits to homes, 20. Mauriceville sub-branch, Mauriceville East, Mauriceville West, Hastwells, Mangamahoe, Ihuraua Valley, Mount Bruce, 2 visits each. New cases, 1; visits to new cases, 1; visits to old cases, 32; total, 33. Pre-natal, total visits, 19.
