TRUBY KING MEMORIAL
POOR RESPONSE TO APPEAL. DONATIONS FALL FAR SHORT OF OBJECTIVE. According to a circular from the Dominion president of the Plunket Society (Mrs D. M. R. Begg) to branches of the society, the result of the appeal for donations for a national memorial to Sir Truby King appears to have fallen far short of the amount aimed at. The opinion expressed by so many branches has not given the executive confidence that an extension of the time limit would ensure that objective being attained and points to the desirability of closing the appeal at an early date. Before referring to the Dominion Council the question of closing the appeal, the executive is making inquiries from branches to ascertain if any further contributions are to be expected. The total received to date (the objective was £5000) is £2068 5s 9d. Donations from the Masterton branch and sub-branches total £7O 2s and from Carterton £lB 3s 6d (including £5 Is from the Grey town subbranch ).
