MARTINBOROUGH
POPULAR WEDDING stmmons—McGillicuddy. ("Times-Age” Special.) Brilliant sunshine favoured the marriage by the Rev. Father Devlin at St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday last of Winifred Agnes, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. McGillicuddy, of Dyerville, Martinborougb, to Richard Barton, eldest son of the late Mr D. J. Simmons and Mrs Simmons, of Waipawa. The bride was a charming figure in a close fitting frock of ivory lace cut on classical lines, worn with a very long veil of cut tulle held by a small coronet of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of white cyclamen and carnations. Attending the bride were Miss Kyra Herrick (chief bridesmaid), Miss Eileen O’Farrell (cousin), and Miss Molly McGillicuddy (cousin), all of whom were attired in long frocks of powder blue georgette with daintily rucked bodices, the softly draped shoulders forming a small sleeve. Wide belts with front lacings and Juliette caps of stiffened net embossed with velvet flowers and silver shoes completed a most attractive toilet. They carried bouquets in pink shadings.
Mr Pat McGillicuddy acted as best man and Mr Nelson Herrick as groomsman. Later Mr and Mrs McGillicuddy entertained some two hundred guests at the Parish Hall. Mrs McGillicuddy wore a navy frock and hat with wool lace coat, and Mrs Simmons a navy ensemble.
The beautiful triple tiered wedding cake was made and was the gift of Mr and Mrs Mclntosh, Mahaki. When Mr and Mrs Simmons Jurir., left for New Plymouth the bride was wearing a navy ensemble and cameo brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Their future home will be at Otane, Hawke’s Bay.
