GOLDEN WEDDING

* I MR AND MRS F. C. MATTHEWS. I Mr and Mrs F. C. Matthews, of Dixon ■Street, Masterton, celebrated their golden wedding recently. A two-tier wedding cake was cut to mark the anniversary. Many telegrams of congratulation were received, and Mrs Matthews was the recipient of a large | number of floral tributes. Mr and Mrs Matthews were married on September 28, 1889, at St Mark’s Church, Wellington. Both were of English stock, Mr Matthews coming from England in the sailing ship Isles of the South in 1871. and. Mrs Matthews, then ■Miss Alice Julia Boulding, arrived in New Zealand two years later by the sailing vessel Punjab. Soon after their ■ marriage in Wellington they came to Masterton, where they have resided ever since. Mrs Matthews is 82 and Mr Matthews 78.
