WOMEN’S DIVISION t PARTY IN AID OF LIBRARY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A euchre party was held in the Mauriceville Hall on Thursday evening in aid of the W.D.F.U. library, there being a very good attendance. The prizes were won as follows: — Ladies: Mrs J. Duncan, 1; Mrs McArley, 2. Men: Mr Welch, 1. Consolation: Mr J. Duncan. A very enjoyable gathering was brought to a close by the serving of a dainty supper by the hostesses (Mesdames J. Duncan. Wilson, F. W. Scherf, and J. Milner). CROQUET CLUB GARMENTS FOR REFUGEES. The Mauriceville Croquet Club held a gathering at the residence of Mrs J. Milner. The first portion of the afternoon was spent in knitting garments which are to be sent to the refugee children in England. The winners at cards were Mrs R. Palmer first, and Mrs F. Payne second. The consolation was won by Mrs C. Spackman. Mrs Freeman thanked Mrs Milner for the use of her home for the gathering which was of a most enjoyable character. NEW SCHOOL WORK NEARLY COMPLETED. The new school at Mauriceville is nearing completion and Mr Nicholls, the builder, expects that it will be ready for the official opening by Mr J. Robertson, M.P.. on Saturday, October 7, at 2 p.m. All those interested are invited to attend on that day when the school will be thrown open for inspection. Owing to his strenuous duties the Hon. P. Fraser will not be able to attend the gathering. On Friday night, October 6, the school committee will hold a children’s fancy dress dance to commemorate the opening of the new school, to be followed by a dance for adults.
