CARTERTON
MINIATURE RIFLES PROPOSED MATCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) Tuesday evening next will see the miniature rifle shooting season brought to an end when a challenge match will be fired between present day members the Carterton Club and those who at rone time or other in recent years were active members. Considerable speculation is rife as to the result and as there are good prizes offered in connection with the match there is sure to be keen competition on both sides. After the contest members of the local club will provide supper for their opponents. The match will be 10 rounds with optional sighter on match targets. The teams will be: Old timers.—G. W. Jones, J. Duffy, Miss Fisher, Miss A. McPhee, G. Goodin, L. Fitzgerald. Members of this team are asked to provide a plate for supper. LATE MR L. A. BISHOP FUNERAL AT CLAREVILLE. The funeral of the late Mr L. A. Bishop took place at the Clareville Cemetery yesterday afternoon, there being a large attendance. Many beau • tiful wreaths were sent and the service at the graveside was impressively conducted by the Rev W. F. Stent. Vicar of St Mark’s Anglican Church. The pall bearers were Messrs J. Edwards, J. Taplin, R. Regnault (sons-in-law), H. Abbott (brother-in-law), E. Edwards and W. Taplin. Personal. Mr R. W. Nunn, who has been away from Carterton during the winter months visiting Waikaremoana, Rotorua and Taranaki, has returned again to Carterton. Mr Nunn went away for health reasons and has come back greatly benefited by the change. Church Service. A Church of England service will be conducted at Ponatahi at 2 o’clock on ,5 Sunday next. The Rev W. F. Stent will "" officiate. Mr Colin Sherriff will visit Carterton this weekend and will preach at the Presbyterian Church and at Longbush in the afternoon.
