Y.M.C.A.
LADIES' AUXILIARY MEETING. Fourteen ladies attended the monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. when Mrs G. R. Beecroft, president, occupied the chair. An apology for absence was received from Mrs W. A. Clarke.
Reports were received showing the success of card tournaments and the children’s fancy dress party, held during the month.
The major business of the meeting concerned the annual Father and Son banquet, to be held on Thursday, October 5. The arrangements were discussed in detail, and there is every indication that the function will be a great success. Mr A. E. Bate, past general secretary to the Y.M.C.A. was chosen as the principal speaker at the banquet. Mrs Beecroft advised that, on account of ill-health, she would be obliged to relinquish her position as president in the near future. This announcement was received with regret by all present and appreciative reference was made to the untiring service rendered by Mrs Beecroft, during her term of over three years as president of the auxiliary. At the conclusion of the meeting, an enjoyabe afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mesdames Wing and Physick.
