SOUTH WAIRARAPA SOCIETY.
VALUE OF RESEARCH WORK APPRECIATED.
("Times-Age” Special.)
A general meeting of the South Wairarapa Berry Growers’ Society was held in Greytown on Tuesday. The election of officers for the coming year took place and matters connected with the prospects for the season were fully discussed. Members expressed keen appreciation of the work being carried out by the Department of Agriculture in connection with the establishment of official experiments to determine the best means of controlling diseases and pests in small fruits, also plots for ascertaining the best varieties to grow. It was resolved that a letter be forwarded to the Director of the Horticulture Division, recognising the value of research work in this connection to the growers and that an invitation be sent to the Director of the Horticulture Division to visit the district to confer with the growers. A vote of thanks was carried by members, expressing the thanks of the growers to the Government Orchard Instructor, Mr M. Davey, for guidance and instruction during the past year.
