CRICKET
RED STAR CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. Mr R. Pawson presided over a good attendance of players and supporters of the Red Star Cricket Club held in the Savage Club Rooms last evening. The chairman referred to the fact that several players had joined the special military force and the club would most likely be losing their services for the season. He extended the best wishes of the club to these players and reminded the other members that they should carry on as usual and keep the game going.
The election of officers resulted as, follows: —Patron, Mr C. Perry; president, Mr L. J. Matthews; vice-presid-ents. Messrs B. Iveson, H. B. Thomas, W. Fly. C. Monro. E. Buckton. F. Turner, P. Prescott, G. Masters. A. Styles; club captain, Mr E. F. Pool; hon treasurer, Mr B. Wilmshurst; hon auditor, Mr W. B. Yates; hon secretary, Mr G. B. Peterson; management committee. Messrs W. Peterson, R. Pawson, C. Roys, D. Wellington; delegates to the Wairarapa Cricket Association. Messrs F. Hoar. J. Renner, R. Pawson, D. Wellington. New members proposed were: Messrs J. Broom. R. Osborne. J. McMillan. W. Newland, C. James. I. Coleman. L. Hubbard, D. Ranston, L. Leigh, G. Longworth. E. Braggins. C. Read, E. Burton. It was decided to enter one senior and two junior teams in the Association competitions.
The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.
