MASTERTON MAN INJURED

WRIST FRACTURED. A lucky escape from what might easily have been a more serious injury was experienced by Mr H. G. Yates, of Masterton, yesterday. Mr Yates was engaged on drainage work for the Masterton Trust Lands Trust at the entrance of the rightaway alongside the shop of Messrs 11. Long & Co. He was holding an iron spike while another workman was striking it with a heavy sledge hammer. The head of the hammer flew off and struck Mr Yates on the wrist, which was fractured. Mi’ Yates was attended by Dr G. B. A. Cowie and admitted io the Masterton Hospital, where his condition this morning was reported to be satisfactory.
